Hard Lesson is the Ideal Cynics second album which includes a few different versions of the band line-up wise. The tracks Wounds, Planet X, and Yoko are the product of the five piece version of the group minus guitarist Daniel Young. Black Molly, Rings, Leech and Inertia are from the three piece (Hydro) era with Flowers, Lonon, and White making up the power trio. The songs Let's Play Pretend and Tallywhackin' Sally are from the original Universal Peace EP with all six members.
