Bio
The Rev Black Flowers is a BMI affiliated singer/songwriter/performer originally from Dallas, Texas. He cut his teeth in the Deep Ellum Arts District and surrounding areas of Dallas at a very young age. He helped to form the Commerce, Texas band Ideal Cynics with Joseph Lonon on bass, Cameron White on drums, Matt Langley on keyboards, Daniel Young and Rod Marentette on guitars. Who made a name for themselves with a large college following in East Texas while releasing two albums, "Malachai" for DCAP Productions on Midwest Records and later "Hard Lesson" for Black Molly Music. They played the main stage at The Taste Of Dallas and The Dallas Observer BrewFest consecutive years and played shows opening for such major label artists as The Nixons, The Toadies, Deep Blue Something, Fastball, Tony McAlpine, and Michael Nesmith of The Monkees. Playing such famous venues as Trees, Club Clearview, On The Rocks, and Dallas City Limits. He also, released the EP "Prideful" with the Mckinney, Texas rock band Dominant Nature which featured Billy Honea on lead guitar, Randall Richardson on bass, and Jake Winters on drums. Approaching the year 2000, he took up residency in Las Vegas, NV. began performing for 12 years in the desert oasis. He recorded and released his first solo cd "An American Parasol" in May of that very same year. Local radio stations put his singles "Genuwine" and "Petals" in rotation and he released "The Glass Bottled Soda" in 2008. Highlights from his sophomore effort were "The Glass Bottled Soda" and "Litany". In late 2012, The Rev released his third cd "St. Lewis" which was dedicated to his friend Sean Lewis and was featured in an article by Jack Johnson in the December 20th issue of the Boulder City Review. In 2016, he moved back to his home state of Texas settling in Clarendon, Texas to record with music producer Joel K. Louis and release his 4th group of works entitled "First Light" along with the single "All Saints" which included Bill Smith from the East Texas band BlackSmith. After its release, the song "All Saints" was selected and used as the title track for the paranormal series "From The Shadows" which was sold to the BBC. His full production recording of "First Light" was curated by Reverbnation and climbed to #43 on their singer/songwriter charts. In 2017, The Rev relocated to Marshall, Texas and released the single "Pulse" in 2018 with The Mad Coalition which included Joel K. Louis on keys/production and Brandon Phillips on guitar. He then released the single "Silent Majority" and a cover of the classic church hymn "Amazing Grace". In 2024, he released the single Dustin Bone with the Mad Coalition followed by his album Race The Raven. In 2025 he released the album Lizard Tails to critical acclaim and most recently in 2026 his latest album House Of Dulaney. "He is what he is, and can't be pigeon-holed into one genre.
